AIG Women's Open

Being an ally to women in professional golf

The AIG Women’s Open is one of golf’s major championships, bringing a global audience together to experience tradition and watch exceptional golf.

AIG’s support of the tournament dates back to 2019 when AIG became the title sponsor of the Women’s British Open, which was first played in 1976. This was AIG’s first title sponsorship in professional golf, and subsequently in July 2020, AIG announced the rebranding of the iconic championship to the AIG Women’s Open, reflecting its growing stature and international appeal.

AIG, in conjunction with The R&A, has meaningfully expanded this iconic championship in many ways—from its global reach to tripling the prize money since AIG became the title sponsor in 2019.

AIG Chairman & CEO, Peter Zaffino, sat down with NBC’s Grant Boone to discuss the growth of women’s golf and AIG’s focus on making the AIG Women’s Open a uniquely compelling major championship.

Our title sponsorship of the AIG Women’s Open reflects our commitment to inclusion, and gender pay equity. This championship offers a global stage for us to set a high standard with our actions and allyship with women in golf, business, and society more broadly.”

“In AIG, we have the support of a deeply trusted partner, as we look to continue to elevate the AIG Women’s Open.”
